Guided Hiking Tour of Matilija Creek and Falls

Description: Splash through the creek. Scramble over boulders. See a waterfall cut through the striated layers of a sandstone cliff and fill a deep pool with icy water! Emerald slopes of chaparral, pools of steelhead trout, camouflaged treefrogs on the rocks, and fern grottos dripping with spring water. Chances of passing through poison oak. Prepare to be soaking wet. Bring lunch and we'll have dinner in town. This hike is restricted to experienced hikers who have hiked 8 miles on rough terrain). To carpool, meet at 5907 Valley Forge Dr., Orange, 92869 (off of Jamestown and Santiago Cyn Rd.) at 7:30AM. Adventure Pass is required to park. Difficulty level is extremely strenuous, roughly 8-9 miles round-trip, boulder scrambling through creekbed. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before start time. Bring at least 1 quart of water per person. Wear weather protection (jacket, etc.), durable hiking socks, and shoes, long pants, and backpack for snacks. Bring first aid kit and cell phone.
