The White Buffalo

Mick Kelleher and Lee Koch opening acts.

When: Wednesday, May 14, 2008, 8:30 p.m.

Where: SOhO, 1221 State St., Santa Barbara

Cost: $12 - $15

Age limit: Not available

Categories: Folk

Description: The White Buffalo is quite possibly a legend in the making. A throwback to the time of hard touring, hard drinking artists who really lived what they sang about. Everything about The White Buffalo is larger than life; from his towering stature, to his dissident style, and his quaking bravado. With a musical history that began with the country albums his parents preferred, his eclectic personal tastes range from Waylon Jennings to the brooding clamor of Radiohead, Elliott Smith and Tom Waits. These touchstones steep into his harrowing lyrical content, a mix of lament and sincere melodic lightness. At moments his songs are wrought in tenderness, in the next he allows the grit to surface.
