Description: UCSB Arts & Lectures and the UCSB Interdisciplinary Humanities Center are proud to present the 2008 Harry Girvetz Memorial Lecture featuring historian and award-winning essayist Andrew J. Bacevich. Professor of International Relations and History at Boston University, Bacevich is the editor of the recently-released collection of essays The Long War – A New History of U.S. National Security Policy Since World War II and the author of The New American Militarism, “a concise sinewy book that looks at the emperor and concludes that indeed he has no clothes” (Los Angeles Times). Bacevich is a West Point graduate and Vietnam veteran. His essays have appeared in The Nation, The American Conservative, and The New Republic.
