Description: Art critic and historian, Peter Frank has said of the work, “Fried’s assemblaged boxes are engaging. Perhaps because their humor depends on clever and unexpected juxtapositions, the boxes have a rhythm – a sense of timing,
really – that resembles good stand-up comedy. In this context, their political/social/religious subject matter seems only appropriate.“
Entrapment, voyeurism and spectacle are built into working with Fried’s boxes. Their three walls enclose a fixed moment in a room behind glass. “This is a collection of climates, where even the most liberated are confined,” says Fried.
