Academic Job Market #5: Non-Tenure Track Jobs for PhDs

Workshop with Barbara Herr Harthorn, Zia Isola, and Marisela Marquez

When: Wednesday, April 30, 2008, 3:30 p.m.

Where: Women's Ctr., UCSB Campus, CA

Cost: Free

Age limit: All ages

Categories: Workshops

Description: You finished the PhD or will in a few months. The stories you’ve heard about life as a professor and the academic job market leave you unsure if you want to pursue the tenure track. Or, you just don’t want to endure another year looking for a tenure track position. Barbara Herr Harthorn, former director of ISBER, Zia Isola, Diversity Coordinator for Graduate Division, and Marisela Marquez, Executive Director of Associated Students will discuss other options.

For more information about this event or to accommodate a disability, please contact Sharon Hoshida, acting director, or Beth Currans, program director, at the UCSB Women’s Center, (805) 893-3778, or by e mail at sharon.hoshida@sa.ucsb.edu or elizabeth.currans@sa.ucsb.edu. This event is free and open to the public, however, there is a charge for parking and there are parking permit dispensers in all of the parking lots. These dispensers do not give change, but they do take credit cards. There is ample parking available in the new parking structure, Parking Lot 22, directly across the walkway from the new Student Resource Building where the Women’s Center is located.

Phone: 805-893-3778
