Becoming Intimate with Poems through Memorization and Recitation. Poems can sustain and nurture. They become most available to us when we make them a part of us and give them voice. This class will be an opportunity to cultivate your relationship to a poem or group of poems through memorization and recitation. It will benefit those who want to develop memory skills and keep their memories active, to work thoughtfully through the interpretation of poems, to develop speaking skills, and to share poetry as a form of oral culture. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in a performance at the end of the semester.
