Alcosser has published seven books of poetry. Two of her books, A Fish to Feed All Hunger and Except by Nature, have been selected for the National Poetry Series, the Academy of American Poets James Laughlin Award, the Larry Levis Award, the Associated Writing Programs Award in Poetry, and the William Stafford Award from Pacific Northwest Booksellers. She has received two NEA fellowships, and NEA made her the first Conservation Poet for the Wildlife Conservation Society and Poets House, New York. She lives part of the year in Montana and is Montana's first poet laureate. In the fall she directs the MFA Program in Creative Writing at San Diego State University, which she founded. For the last three summers she has directed SDSU's International Writers Summer Program at National University of Ireland, Galway. She has taught at the University of Michigan, University of Montana, and Pacific University and has had residencies at Glacier National Park, Yosemite National Park and Central Park, New York. She will read poems.
