Description: Salladé is well-known as a fine artist and illustrator, painting in acrylic and watercolor. “SpiralBound Series” demonstrates a recent progression for Salladé, through which she explores mixed media and assemblage techniques using watercolor as a foundation. She began the Series in 2003, incorporating the square perforations of her watercolor paper into her organic painted musings. “I began developing a deep appreciation of the interplay of straight line ‘order’ with the sinuous ‘chaos’," she said. As the series progressed, Salladé incorporated more objects into her work and gained fluency in mixed media expression. “I am energized by the opportunity to continue coaxing harmony from seemingly disparate elements to discover what takes place when the artist surrenders a limiting belief.” With this show Salladé shares her creative process from the beginning of the Series through her most current work.
