Description: Girls Inc. of Greater Santa Barbara has invited Santa Barbara’s finest artists and celebrities to create their own versions of one of the world’s most treasured symbols of a girl’s childhood: the doll. Drawing from Girls Inc.’s motto — “Inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold” — these artists have been asked to offer their unique interpretations of “strong, smart, and bold” in the form of a one-of-a-kind art doll. A select number of girls who attend Girls Inc. have also been given the opportunity to contribute their own work of art. A template doll, unadorned and made of plain muslin, is provided as the “canvas” in which to work or incorporate in the art piece, or the artist may choose their own form.
All of the works of art will be sold to the highest bidder during a silent auction and art happening hosted by The Girlfriends Project to raise scholarship funds for Girls Inc.
