Read the inspiring book about Dr. Farmer's personal quest to eradicate infectious diseases around the world, and then attend a lecture by the man who has been called "doctor, Harvard professor, renowned infectious-disease specialist, anthropologist, the recipient of a MacArthur "genius" grant, and world-class Robin Hood," at UCSB on October 22. More details to follow. The lecture is sponsored by UCSB Arts & Lectures and the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education. Public libraries in the area will also be sponsoring discussions and presentations about the book. Visit the website for more information.
The community reading program runs from September 12 through October 31. Copies of the book are available from all Santa Barbara public libraries. It is also available on CD, on audiocassette, and as a downloadable audiobook.
