Zaca Fire Bulletin Board

Zaca Fire Bulletin Board RSS Feed

Pruning the Comments

Posted August 11, 2007 by Indy Staff

One of the reasons we have created this Bulletin Board it to shine a light on some of the things you all might miss in reader comments or in other spots on the site.

To that end, these folks are kickin':

First of all, packer may have a solution to the Inciweb bottleneck when that site is overburdened.

"try this site for Zaca updates whether inciweb is up or not: YubaNet

EastBeach provides some great information, via Ray Ford on a windy subject, and introduced the Santa Barbara Outdoors stunningly beautiful website dedicated to the backcountry in question.

"For a nice description of the difference between Santa Ana's and sundowners, see Ray Ford's excellent writeup on the history of local fires

here

"For automated wind reports from stations on Paradise Road and La Cumbre Peak, respectively."

And finally, emenzies is trying to coordinate some valuable relief to the hard-working souls fighting this fire.

"…Again, Ray, thank you for the updates on factual information.

"I am working on coordinating Massage Therapists to offer chair massage to fire fighters at base camp. As yet I do not know if base camp can accomodate this. Hopefully there is a portion of one of the Earl Warren Showground buildings that isn't in use and we can set up a Base Camp Massage Clinic. FREE to the fire fighters, the efforts donated by local therapists.

"I am also extending an invite to Fire Fighters to join us for dinner at our home. Trying to figure out the best way to get the word out. Any ideas?

"We of course cannot have everyone over for dinner all at once. But one or two once a week until base camp is no longer in use. Maybe get some other folks in the neighborhood to donate their dinner table as well. A home cooked meal and some massage seems the least we can do for these folks to help keep them going. Thank you to them and thank you to you for your active participation.

“Emenzies” can be reached by clicking on his user name, hyperlinked above.
