History
oso began out of the rubble of Volta Do Mar in 2003. Between acoustic guitar unicycle hitchhiking, Phil wrote songs that were recorded in different locales and eventually assembled into the album 48507 (a homage to family and musical wellspring).
Phil met Tim, another Michigan native from the up in Santa Barbara. Things accelerated, they started playing with Andrew, who Phil met at a mental health facility where they both worked. Nick soon joined, making oso a quartet. They played a handful of shows before a six month hiatus. Phil left for Africa, played programs with the Gambian National Army Band, traveled by military transport truck, did a solo tour in the UK opening for the Oxes, and worked with a guerrilla movement theater group in London.
Fast forward to the more immediate present, as they are now trying to get serious. The band did a three week spring tour in 2006, which brought them to Seattle, Chicago, and back through the Southwest. In July of 2006, Nick played at the Django Reinhart Music Festival in France. Phil played some solo performances in London, Edinburgh, Cork, and Dublin. During spring of 2007, oso did a two week tour of California.
